Orthopedic Care You Can Trust

Susan Waage had surgery to fix a broken knee cap when she was 34 weeks pregnant. Not only was her knee surgery a complete success, but she delivered a healthy baby boy six weeks later. “I would recommend GW Hospital because, in addition to the excellent medical care you receive, the staff treats you like a person and cares not just about your physical symptoms but also your emotional wellbeing,” says Susan. “I don’t have any lingering pain, I don’t have any discomfort and I have full range of motion. I am so grateful to GW Hospital for a healthy baby and a healthy me.”

Keeping You Safe

You don’t have to put your healthcare needs on hold! GW Hospital is taking extensive measures during this uncertain time to help keep you safe during your visit. This includes screening all who enter the facility, social distancing, universal masking, isolation of COVID-19 patients, enhanced disinfection, limited visitation and more.

Get Back To Doing The Things You Love

Are issues with your shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees, feet, ankles or spine slowing you down? Orthopedic surgeons at GW Hospital offer surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for a wide variety of injuries and disorders involving joints, bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Foot and Ankle

If you’re having trouble with your feet or ankles, come to GW Hospital where our specialists can evaluate and treat many conditions including deformities, bunions, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, ankle injuries, diabetic foot disorders, sprains and strains, ligament fractures and other trauma of the ankle and leg.

Hand, Shoulder and Elbow

When you’re experiencing issues with your hands, shoulders or elbows, GW Hospital is the place to go for help. Our team can evaluate your condition and provide treatments for arthritis, congenital deformities, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon problems, rotator cuff problems, sports-related injuries and instability problems of the shoulder. We can correct these issues with arthroscopic shoulder surgery, carpal tunnel release surgery, hand therapy, and many other procedures.

Joint, Hip and Knee Reconstruction/Repair

Patients who come to the Total Joint Replacement Center at GW Hospital have a completely different experience than those who are treated at other facilities. We provide comprehensive services — both before and after surgery — for patients undergoing total hip or total knee replacement. You’ll receive education prior to your surgery so you’ll know what to expect before, during and after your procedure. When surgery is over, you’ll receive physical and occupational therapy to help you regain function quickly. Our goal is to get you back on your feet, both physically and psychologically. For that reason, our staff will not approach you as a “sick patient,” but one who has elected surgery to help improve their quality of life.

GW Hospital is a Blue Distinction® Center for knee and hip replacement surgery.

Ortho Trauma

The orthopedic trauma surgery team at GW Hospital is ready around-the-clock with access to coordinated care from a wide range of specialists. We excel in minimally invasive fracture repairs to speed your recovery process from fractures of the tibia, femur, and pelvic ring, as well as periarticular, acetabular, non-union, and mal-union fractures. We also use fluoroscopic guidance, which results in less pain and less added surgical trauma for the patient.

Spine

To help patients find relief from back pain and get active again, the GW Spine and Pain Center offers nonsurgical treatment options such as injections, implantable devices and physical therapy. Our orthopedic surgeons also perform many minimally invasive spine procedures, including:

  • Disc surgery on the neck or lower back when a spinal nerve root is compressed, injured or inflamed
  • Spinal stenosis surgery to relieve persistent lower back pain
  • Spinal fusion to stabilize the vertebrae and alleviate severe, chronic back pain

Sports Medicine

If you’ve experienced an athletic injury such as a torn rotator cuff or ACL, tennis elbow, concussion, or other condition, we can help get you off the sidelines and back in the game. We can help you prevent recurrent injuries, build your strength and reach your goal of peak physical performance.
